On behalf of Bataan, Governor Joet Garcia received awards for its outstanding fiscal performance at the 37th Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) Stakeholder’s Recognition, held on October 9 at Seda Hotel.

Bataan secured the 5th and 4th spots for Locally Sourced Revenue (LSR) in Nominal Terms for fiscal years 2022 and 2023, respectively. Moreover, Bataan placed 1st in the Ratio of Locally Sourced Revenue to Total Current Operating Income (TCOI).

No less than Department of Finance Secretary Ralph Recto and BLGF Executive Director Consolacion Agcaoili presented the awards.

The municipalities of Mariveles and Limay were also given recognition. Limay, represented by Municipal Treasurer Rosalinda Atienza, earned the 1st place in LSR for FY 2023 and ranked 2nd for FY 2022. Limay also got the the top spot for both fiscal years in the LSR to TCOI category.

Mariveles Mayor AJ Concepcion and Municipal Treasurer Erwin Villapando, received the awards for ranking 2nd in LSR in 2023 and 4th in LSR to TCOI, demonstrating its consistent good financial performance.

In the said event, Sec. Recto said “Dahil kapag matatag ang financial performance ng ating mga lokal na pamahalaan, mas mabilis ang pagdaloy ng serbisyo, mas dadami ang mga negosyo, mas maraming trabaho ang malilikha, at may dagdag na kita ang bawat Pilipino.”

Meanwhile, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John Uy introduced the Electronic Official Receipt system and the National Collection Financial Dashboard. In order to maintain local financial integrity and maximize resource mobilization, these initiatives aim to improve financial transparency and governance within local government units (LGUs).

These recognitions are clear indicators of the province’s and its municipalities’ dedication to responsible and transparent financial management, ensuring improved public service and progress for all Bataeños.
